My home town

Hello, I'm James, and I'd like to introduce you to my home town.

The town where I was born is called Felixstowe, and is on the east coast of England in the county of Suffolk. It's set between two rivers, the river Orwell and the Deben, and like a lot of the coastal areas in this region is famous for its esturies, and the old pubs that you can find along the rivers and coastline. Felixstowe really has three parts. Firstly there's the seaside with its pier (like Brighton) and amusement arcades and spa gardens. Then there is what's known as 'Old Felixstowe', which is the well off traditional part that includes a golf course, and is very quiet and residential. Finally, there's the newer part of town where the container port is. In fact, this port is now the largest container port in Europe, and has brought a lot of jobs to the town. A few other facts about the town; it is famous for having had the first radar in the world (during the second world war), it's close to Ipswich which is the local football team that everyone supports (winning the UEFA cup twice), and until the 1980s Felixstowe had its own bomb disposal squad due to all the second world war bombs that continued to be found along its coast!

If you are still curious about Felixstowe and have any questions, please blog me and ask. I'd be happy to tell you more.

Hi James.

I like the information that you gave it. Especially for having had the first radar in the world ( during the secong world war). Is there the effect of history such as building or something like that we can see there?. I like a lot to visit historical places.

Hi Shahran,

Felixstowe is not noted for its architecture. It's mainly made up of victorian buildings, which are mainly residential, like in Hove.
